Poppa Neutrino was a loving Dad, a Wise teacher, and a great partner in a musical dream. The sadness that is felt right now by his loss personally, can only be overcome with the idea that his dreams and ideas will continue with his family, friends, followers and fans. Please share your stories you experienced with him, as well, as any ideas you may have on how to continue his dream of people fulfilling their "Three deepest desires" among the many other intellectual ideas and theories he shared with you.
Sincerely,
With Love,
Ingrid Lucia

a poem which inspired him throughout his life:

IF
by Rudyard Kipling

IF you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream – and not make dreams your master;
If you can think – and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ‘em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings – nor lose the common touch,
if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And – which is more – you’ll be a Man, my son!

The last time I talked with him, he had just heard this song on an old Lawrence Welk rerun, and he remembered that it was one of my mother’s favorite songs. When I found this version on youtube, it really got me because it has a bit of the dialogue from the original Broadway play, and it starts with "he’s dead . . . " and it’s a beautiful rendition of the song.
Amazing to me now to think of all these little details, like that he would talk to me about that song during our last conversation. Did he know that was the last time we would talk on the phone?

I met Poppa a short time after he had commandeered the Absolute Absolution down in Puerto Lindo, Panama in early 09'. I spent a few weeks with this fascinating individual who I can only describe as a Sage. He took me in, fed me, taught me and listened to me. He is truly one of a kind and we should all look to his spirit as a point in which to ascend. Thanks Poppa for all the memories!

I had the honor of meeting poppa towards the end of his life in Burlington, Vt. My husband and I were walking home on the lake champlain bike path on 7/4/2010 when we came upon a raft with music and entertainers(acrobats) we asked if we could hang out for a while and were welcomed. We found the whole expirence interesting and fun as we had never encountered this kind of event. We asked about the origin and were told it was poppa neutrino “headquarters” was at radio bean. As we have a boat in the lake we encountered the raft a few more times throughout the summer. The next time I met poppa was in a more professional capacity he was in a hurry as here was leaving soon on another adventure. I didn’t recognize the name at first but there was a description of him in a note that made me ask “is he poppa neutrino?”. I can not give much more detail but he sang to us while we did our best to help him feel better. I am sorry to hear that his journey here has ended. I hope that his final months were as comfortable as possible.

I never met David Pearlman. My only knowledge of him and his life is from the documentary Random Lunacy and the book Happiest Man in The World.
I found learning about his life, his attitude and his deeds quite inspiring. I wish I would’ve been able to meet him but unfortunately that didn’t happen. I think the world is a better place for someone such as him to have been here. He seemed to be able to inspire others to look inside themselves and see what is possible if they believe in themselves and what they’re driven to do.

My friendship with Poppa began with a surprise call from my boss at National Geographic. I heard for the very first time about a crazy band of adventurers who had done the seemingly impossible– crossed the Atlantic in a raft made from recycled trash! When we met on a windy, February day in Marseilles, France. Poppa took an immediate skeptical attitude towards me. After all, I was sort of “the man” — the corporate suit– and he was about to trust me (and the wonderful Victor Zimet) with all his footage shot while on the voyage.
Victor and I spent numerous weeks holed up in an edit suite in Times Square creating “Fantastic Voyage” for National Geographic’s Explorer Program. We also filmed Poppa and the gang in NYC. The program we created really captured the magic of Poppa’s dream in action. Betsy, Roger and Ed– you have always had my deepest respect for that trip!! After the story aired, Poppa realized I was true to the spirit of that journey and our friendship blossomed.
We met Poppa again for a second National Geographic program– this time for his trip down the Mississippi– in Dows, Iowa, Memphis, TN, Baton Rouge and ultimately, New Orleans. Poppa was in his glory as we walked the French Quarter and I’ll never forget his beaming smile!! As we know, there’s no stopping Poppa when he’s on a roll!!
I last spoke to him a couple of months ago about an “idea” he had for a reality TV show. Poppa was always brimming with ideas and schemes–something I will always cherish about him.
Thank you, Poppa, for all the memories…and for the friendships you inspired — Betsy, Victor and Keith. We love you all and will keep Poppa and his spirit in our hearts forever!!! – Lori and Duane

Anna Quinn Wilson AKA Nancy Jane Bourgeois:
These are words that I wrote for "May the Circle Be Unbroken" that gives a perspective on our life while traveling on the Mississippi and inter coastal waterways of the south in the late 70’s.

Once a man lived in a vision of an everlasting day
But he left it and went searching for someone to show the way.

May the circle be unbroken, by and by Lord by and by,
There’s a better land a waiting
Deep inside, Lord deep inside.

He has told us there is much more than this moving-centered hell,
But to leave it you must learn it, and learn it, oh, damned well.

First you go here, then you go there, just keep moving all around,
First you go up and then you come down, put your feet back on the ground.

If you see your brother struggle as he travels down the road,
You can help him, make him stronger,
Add a rock on to his load.

I lived and traveled with David and the Salvation Navy for the better part of 4 years. Then I lost touch with them for about 20 years. When I re-connected I found that the intensity and zest for life was still there but the work had a much, much softer tone – fewer rocks – just the triads and your three deepest desires. He was still searching for people to show the way – every minute of his life.

He certainly left an indelible impression on many, many souls. May we all carry on his work in his spirit.

Never met Poppa in person, but did have the pleasure of a long phone conversation with him once. He shared some great stories and several gems of wisdom; one I often recall was his advice to slow down and not to expect to get more than one thing done in a day – "take a couple of hours just for your morning coffee." He, and all of the other Neutrinos, continue to inspire me. Tres bon voyage, mon frere.

I met Poppa Neutrino and his crew in 2000 at a gas station outside Las Cruces New Mexico. I was biking across America. The Neutrinos were on their way to Greely Colorado to build a trimaran. Great memories. Thank you for the inspiration Poppa! I am making a documentary film that includes my encounter with the Neutrinos and the lessons I learned from their journeys. I first met Poppa On a floatilla he made and landed at a bay on the Hudson just North of Battery Park. The closest happening to accept was the Amazon club/ a music and drunk feast that I became involved with around '93 or '4. Shared meals and dinghy rides to the home in the bay. By the end of the Amazon club the 55 gallon barrels of two part poly foam started making a vessel. Of course it all was steamed with left over kegs from the club and a spirit to move forward!!!!!!!! Such good memory and spirit.

I loved Poppa like my own brother. The world will never be the same.

Richard Siday:
His passing even touched my Father. Unfortunayely I will be at work that day, but will observe a moment in silent retrospect to a Man who inspired us all, and the World. Love to a Man who had an undiverted passion for that Hidden Spark.

Jan Theunissen:
Dear poppa David, to me you were my second father and my spiritual guide for many years. I have only few words to express the sadness I feel. This time you start a new journey that is really going beyond my earthly level of participation. But I am also happy to see that you have touched the lives of many people. You were a true man – I , we will be more true because of you. You will always be part of me –Jan
